Xavier Livermon is an associate professor of African and African Diaspora Studies at The University of Texas at Austin. His work explores the intersections of Black popular culture and queerness in global Black communities with a focus on South Africa. He is the author of Kwaito Bodies: Remastering Space and Subjectivity in Post-Apartheid South Africa (Duke, 2020) and the co-editor of Black Sexual Economies: Race and Sex in the Age of Capital (Illinois, 2019).
