'It's Coming From Inside the House!': Watch 'Hellraiser' With MoPOP!

At 7 p.m. PT this Friday, April 10 on It's Coming from Inside the House!, the Museum of Pop Culture's weekly horror film watchalong, Manager of Public Engagement Robert Rutherford celebrates the sensuous horror of Clive Barker's 1987 film Hellraiser with a watchalong and discussion!

Based on his novella The Hellbound Heart, Barker’s directorial debut is a dark exploration of temptation and desire that stirred controversy before it was even released, initially garnering an 'X' rating from the Motion Picture Association of America and a ban from being screened in Ontario, Canada. It proved to be a commercial and critical success, spawning 10 films in the Hellraiser franchise. The first film that kicked it all off comes in at No. 69 on MoPOP's list of 100 Horror Films to See Before You Die.

Here are a handful of program elements that you can expect to see this Friday night:

  • Pre-film introduction Robert Rutherford, MoPOP's Manager of Public Engagement, including exclusive interview excerpts from Clive Barker's Oral History Live appearance at MoPOP from 2007.
  • Exclusive photos and information on the Lament Configuration Box from Hellraiser: Inferno in MoPOP's Scared to Death: The Thrill of Horror Film exhibition.
  • Cheap-as-heck Pinhead quarantine cosplay. Find your inspiration here.
  • Cocktails, mocktails, and beer pairing recommendations.
