Kwami Coleman

Kwami Coleman is a pianist, composer, and musicologist. His current book project, which explores the aesthetics of 1960s experimental improvisation, is titled Change: The “New Thing” and Modern Jazz. His first album as an ensemble leader, released independently in 2017, is called Local Music. His current recording project is an exploration of improvisation and polyrhythm, titled POLY. Coleman is an assistant professor of music at the Gallatin School of Individualized Study at New York University.
