Runchao Liu is a phd candidate in communication studies from the University of Minnesota. Liu specializes in critical media studies + cultural studies and always through the lens of subcultural musical cultures. She is working on her dissertation project currently titled Sounding Orientalism: Sonic Affect, Musical Radicals, and Countercultural Troubles. A one-woman-band wannabe, she is also a hobbyist musician who is originally from China.
