Venture off to a land of literal sweets at MoPOP, where the costume, wand, and tiara worn by Sugar Plum in Pacific Northwest Ballet's production of The Nutcracker are now on display in the museum Fantasy: Worlds of Myth and Magic exhibition.
Benevolent regent and champion of Candyland in George Balanchine's ballet, the Sugar Plum Fairy's appearance signals the end of Clara's fantastical dream of a cruel Mouse King who transformed a toy Prince. She welcomes Clara and her Nutcracker Prince to her realm with a celebratory dance before Clara awakens under her family's Christmas tree holding her beloved Nutcracker.

One fun fact, courtesy of PNB: Ian Falconer, the costume and set designer for Pacific Northwest Ballet's The Nutcracker, wanted the Sugar Plum Fairy to be the color of an actual plum. Check out the beautiful design in person at MoPOP!
