Amanda Marie Martinez is a PhD candidate in history at UCLA, where she is completing a dissertation on the marketing practices of the country music industry from the early 1970s to the mid 1990s. This year she was a library fellow at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and she has articles forthcoming in the “Uncharted Country” special edition of the Journal of Popular Music Studies, and the journal California History.
