Eric Weisbard organized the Pop Conference from 2002 to 2018, editing its collections This Is Pop, Listen Again, and Pop When the World Falls Apart. He’s associate professor of American studies at the University of Alabama, co-editor of Journal of Popular Music Studies, and a former Village Voice music editor. His books include Top 40 Democracy, Use Your Illusion I and II, and the forthcoming Songbooks: The Literature of American Popular Music.
