MoPOP Founders Award 2020 honoring Alice In Chains

On top of sets from Alice In Chains and the previously listed tribute artists, Founders Award 2020 will feature songs from MoPOP Sound Off! participants whose final performances were cancelled due to the COVID-19 shutdown.

“Alice In Chains was a natural choice to receive the Founders Award,” says Alexis Lee, MoPOP Executive Director, “Their noteworthy musical and pop culture contributions are recognized by fans and the music industry alike. We are thrilled to welcome them to our museum and grateful that even in this ‘virtual’ year of 2020, that they will grace our stage.  We are proud to call them our hometown heroes even though we know we share them with the world. Inspiring future creators is central to what we do as an institution and we are so fortunate to be working with musicians who demonstrate what’s possible to the next generation.”

Like many arts organizations around the country, as a community supported nonprofit museum and in-person gathering space, MoPOP has been hit hard by the COVID-19 crisis. All proceeds raised through Founders Award will provide relief by allowing MoPOP to continue to serve its community, reach young people, and preserve shared pop culture history during this difficult time.
