Born in Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom, Terry Pratchett published his first story, Business Rivals,(1962) in his school's magazine at age 13. The story was published commercially as The Hades Business the following year.  Pratchett dropped out of high school at 17 to take a job as a journalist at a local paper. In 1983, Pratchett published The Color of Magic, the first book in his popular Discworld fantasy series. The series includes 41 novels, which have been translated into numerous languages and sold worldwide.
