Artifact Stats: Thor’s Hammer

Some heroes carry shields, some swords, and some batons, but one of the most unique items in the Marvel Universe is the mythological hammer of Thor.

We’re lucky enough to have one of the prop hammers used by actor Chris Hemsworth on display at MoPOP. Today, we’re taking a closer look at this tool of the gods.

Artifact Stats

Artifact: Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir

Appears: Marvel’s "The Avengers” (2012)

Origins: This powerful object was originally created for Odin, king of the Norse gods. Fashioned from Uru metal ore imbued with a cosmic thunderstorm known as the God Tempest, Mjolnir is charmed with an enchantment that allows only those who are worthy to wield its power.

Behind-the-Scenes: While there were many hammer props of varying weights, the artifact on display at MoPOP only weighs six ounces!
